Imagination Playground Makes New York Times
12:00 am, April 15, 2011
Remember a little while ago when we posted about using piping to make playground fixtures? Well, it seems the New York Times liked the idea as well. We recently finished a big project integrating the concept, and successfully fabricated a structure we like to call "The Whispering Fence." The Fence was created as a part of architect David Rockwell's design for Rockwell Group's Imagination Playground at the South Street Sea Port, New York City. Check out the full New York Times article here. The first picture displays the finished project!

Amuneal Goes Hollywood For A Day
12:00 am, January 28, 2011
Yesterday, in addition to dealing with 12” of snow, Amuneal served as a location for the filming of a new television commercial for American Heritage Credit Union. The shoot, which lasted about 12 hours and involved a crew of 20, followed the process of manufacturing a custom sign for the financial institution.
Beginning with 3D engineering models and then moving on to Amuneal’s laser-cutting system, grinding, welding, mirror polishing, and final assembly the shoot documented the skill and teamwork displayed by Amuneal’s team of fabricators as a metaphor for the teamwork that American Heritage demonstrates on behalf of their clients.
Everyone here seemed to have a great time and the film crew was genuinely impressed by the depth of process knowledge, skill, and generosity displayed in their interactions with our team. In the end the client was so happy with the sign itself that they are now looking at introducing them into their new and existing branches!

In a recent trip to a job site in New York City we stumbled across an amazing wall constructed of hundreds of cookie tins. A completely unexpected, yet incredibly gorgeous find!

Child's Play
12:00 am, May 20, 2010
Starting with over-sized industrial pipe, fittings and custom fabricated components we are in the process of fabricating an amazing feature for a new playground project. The scale of these simple forms and the geometry of the configuration makes them instantly engaging... why didn't they have these when we were kids?!?!
What's New is Old Again
12:00 am, May 20, 2010
We spend a lot of our time working with materials, textures and finishes so that we can be in control over the final appearance of our products. This detail shot is of a mechanism that we made today for one of our Clients... fabricated today to appear as though they've always had it.
Artistic Expression
12:00 am, May 13, 2010
Always looking for new ways to work with our materials, this is an example of a metal tatoo process that we have been developing. This sample highlights the delicate and freehand nature of a process that can be both spontaneous and perminant... like a tatoo...

A Booth Grows at Amuneal
12:00 am, February 26, 2010
Each year we have the challenge and the pleasure of communicating the soul of Amuneal through the creation of our tradeshow installations. This year our team has carefully and thoughtfully "grown" 1000 sculptured flowers to create what we hope will be our most memorable display yet. Hope to see you at Globalshop and ICFF!

Cast System
12:00 am, January 11, 2010
We are constantly experimenting with new finishes and textures. This is a great one… that didn’t make it into the job. Our Customer described a surface quality that felt cast and porous; we developed a finish that produced this texture from a standard sheet or plate of material. Even the ones that don’t make it can serve as future inspiration.

Desk Envy
12:00 am, January 8, 2010
During a recent trip to the highpoint furniture market in North Carolina the most inspiring piece of furniture that I saw was in the lobby of a new boutique hotel. This bronze monolithic desk was installed through a stone wall and cantilevered for more than 12 feet. Really nice!

Inspirations from our childhood
12:00 am, January 5, 2010
We worked with one of our clients to explore different materials and processes to create a 17’ long monumental screen. Inspired by the random madness of the game pick-up sticks we created our own version for this installation.
