Fresh Flagship Scores New York Times Mention - August 31, 2011

Fresh Flagship photo by Eric T. White for the NY Times
We recently completed work on the new Fresh flagship store located in Union Square, and boy, does word travel fast. No sooner was everything installed than the did New York Times post about this light-filled retail space. Working with design teams from both Fresh and Studio Mapos, Amuneal crafted just all the display units you see in this photo—from the column surround to the “Sensorial Bar,” the open shelving, the label holders, and the product trays—we had a workshop full of custom pieces that moved swiftly from production to realization. The final product is, just as the Times says, full of "Old World" charm and unique details.

My.Suit Selected by A.R.E as 2011 Design Award Winner - February 28, 2011
My.Suit, a made-to-measure suit retailer offering a fully customizable menswear shopping experience, has just been named one of A.R.E.'s 2011 Design Award Winners. The hand-patinated steel, bronze, and glass fixtures featured in the clothier's New York City space were designed by UnSPACE and crafted by Amuneal to be reminiscent of displays found in the American Museum of Natural History. The clean, crisp lines and hand finished aspects of the illuminated showcases and multi-media fabric bar were deliberately chosen to highlight the the tailored environment.Amuneal, UnSPACE and My.Suit were chosen out of a record 298 entries by a panel of A.R.E. judges to receive one of just 54 awards. The awards will be presented on March 28th, in the Venetian Ballroom at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. This marks the first day of GlobalShop, and once again Amuneal will be exhibiting. We've already won Best in Show and Best Booth honors twice (awards that will also be handed out during the ceremony on March 28th) — what will we do this year to top ourselves?

President of Amuneal Technical Products Retires - February 04, 2011
Please join the Amuneal family in wishing Larry Maltin, President of Technical Products, best wishes on his upcoming retirement. His last official day is February 10, 2011.
Larry joined Amuneal in 1987 and served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for 16 years after the passing of the founder, Seymour Kamens. Seymour’s son Adam joined the company in 1993 and later assumed the role of CEO in 2003. As the company grew into new markets, Larry continued to manage the Technical Products business.
Larry’s many contributions to Amuneal include promoting the development of Amumetal 4k (A4K), a cost-effective cryogenic magnetic shielding material alternative for Cryoperm 10 ™, developing the shielding program that supports semiconductor wafer fabrication, as well as countless EMF and magnetically shielded room (MSR) projects. His most noteworthy project was a MSR at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The 61 foot long 2 layer magnetically shielded room, which included 27,000 pounds of Amumetal and over 800,000 pounds of high density concrete is part of the SRF linac at the accelerator and stands as the world’s largest known magnetic shield. Under Larry’s meticulous project management, the MSR exceeded the shielding attenuation requirements of the program and was completed weeks ahead of schedule.
Larry will continue to be a valuable resource to the Amuneal organization, spend more time with family and friends, and donate his time and talents to causes that are dear to him.
Everyone who has worked with Larry over the past 24 years is better for it and we wish him all great things.

Amuneal Goes Hollywood For A Day - January 28, 2011
Yesterday, in addition to dealing with 12” of snow, Amuneal served as a location for the filming of a new television commercial for American Heritage Credit Union. The shoot, which lasted about 12 hours and involved a crew of 20, followed the process of manufacturing a custom sign for the financial institution.
Beginning with 3D engineering models and then moving on to Amuneal’s laser-cutting system, grinding, welding, mirror polishing, and final assembly the shoot documented the skill and teamwork displayed by Amuneal’s team of fabricators as a metaphor for the teamwork that American Heritage demonstrates on behalf of their clients.
Everyone here seemed to have a great time and the film crew was genuinely impressed by the depth of process knowledge, skill, and generosity displayed in their interactions with our team. In the end the client was so happy with the sign itself that they are now looking at introducing them into their new and existing branches!
