27 Apr Beauty in rust.
We came upon this find near the small town of Ashfield, Ma, humbly nestled on the front porch of what seemed to be a milling-machine shop. The grey afternoon, intermittent with rain, allowed the brilliant colors of this well-rusted machine to glow brightly, and coaxed us to stop the car to take a closer look.
The machine, stamped with “Pratt, Whitney & Co.,” is wrapped in crackling burnt siennas, reds and oranges of age-old rust, contrasting the bright sea-green patina of a single copper handle.
